The meeting will feature:

Darren Ray, independent climatologist and guest weather commentator for ABC Radio.

Darren will discuss ‘So what happened with El Nino? – 2023’s crazy weather, and what it means for 2024’.

Well known for his monthly seasonal outlook on Jon Lamb’s ABC Gardening show, Darren started in 2002 as a meteorologist with the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting weather and severe events, then doing seasonal forecasting and climate change work as the head of the Bureau’s South Australian climate section.

Since late 2019, he now consults independently on weather, seasonal forecasting and climate change, as well as pursuing further studies in paleoclimate with the University of Adelaide, and working part-time as a climate change analyst with the State Government.

The final result … Murray Plains Farmers trial updates

  • The meeting will be facilitated by Tony Craddock, Pinion Advisory.  Tony will generate discussion on reviewing the season that was and what to watch in the season ahead.
  • Brendan Kupke, SARDI, will update results of the ‘Optimal flowering period for wheat and barley’ trial as well as the GRDC National Variety trial.
  • Sean Mason, Agronomy Solutions, will update on outcomes of the phosphorus variable rate trial with Mallee Sustainable Farming and what’s in store for VRT in 2024.
  • Ryan Laidlaw, AgXtra, will update results for the ‘Improving canola establishment in dry conditions’ trial.

Join us at the Murray Plains Farmers Post Harvest Meeting to review the season that was and what we learned … and plan ahead for the season 24-25!
